Your Task...
There were many significant events and developments that shaped the Australian colonies during the 1800s. These events included the gold rush and the Eureka Stockade (Rebellion).
In this WebQuest you will use relevant primary and secondary sources to investigate a significant event and construct a multimodal presentation about the impact of this significant event on an Australian colony.
In this WebQuest you will use relevant primary and secondary sources to investigate a significant event and construct a multimodal presentation about the impact of this significant event on an Australian colony.
Choose ONE of the following key inquiry questions to research:
|
1. In what ways did the gold rush impact on Australian Indigenous people?
2. How did the Eureka Stockade impact on and shape Australia? 3. How was the gold rush experience different for Chinese immigrants compared to European immigrants? 4. Select a key figure from the Australian gold rush era, how did they person impact on and shape Australia? |
In your research and presentation, you will need to: |
- identify a range of perspectives to explain the significance of the Eureka Stockade or gold rush in Australian history,
- investigate the reasons for migration and the experience and contributions of these particular people in a colony, the gold rush and/or the Eureka Stockade, - investigate the gold rush or Eureka Stockade, explaining its economic, social and political impact on a colony. |
The end result of your presentation should tell your audience if and how Australia was shaped and impacted by the gold rushes and the Eureka Stockade!
Be creative! You may respond to your chosen question in the 'present day' time frame (looking back on that era), or communicate as though you were part of that time period, and you are trying to persuade others of the historical development and its significance.
As this is a multi modal presentation, you are required to use ICT for at least one of the assigned tasks, but keep in mind that you can only display one task at a time on your iPads so not all tasks can use ICT. Remember to keep track of the websites you use by creating a bibliography.
